It's not that famous, it's Military University of Technology in Warsaw (I study as a civilian). It was quite good several dozen years ago, but now it turned into shit. I didn't meet the requirements to study IT on Poland's most famous uni, Warsaw University of Technology, because of too low matura exam results (I was there once, but on telecommunications instead of IT since the admission threshold was lower... I failed there, too).

We do that already, but we also save the exif so it ends up being rotated twice, once in pixels and once in exif (except all viewers ignore the exif rotation in png so it's ok, except when then loading the png with cjxl which does not ignore exif)

id probably strip. if somehow in the future something uses it, then they'd probably use "don't do anything" orientation. jxl toolset should indicate that it does not support png orientation though. stripping it somehow feels more symmetrical to me with ignore-on-load behavior too

being more explicit about orientation may feel somehow more certain but that just results in header bloat, and in this case also no new information. i think that "don't do anything" orientation should be reserved for apps which actually do use other orientation values (in png context)

though i guess implementation wise patching different value in may be easier but id prefer semantics outlined above anyway
