2024-03-04 10:06:24 Open source implementation of the codec as a starting point for the FPGA?
2024-03-04 10:06:59 There are a number of open source HTJ2K software implementations:
2024-03-04 10:07:00 https://github.com/aous72/OpenJPH
2024-03-04 10:07:14 https://github.com/osamu620/OpenHTJ2K
2024-03-04 10:07:49 There is also the reference software: https://gitlab.com/wg1/htj2k-rs

2024-03-04 10:08:44 We have a discord focused on J2K at https://discord.gg/BupVcKxh
2024-03-04 10:08:57 Compare to XS, J2K is much more flexible

2024-03-05 12:01:37 Sorry I hadn't responded yet, it's past 12am here and ill have to take an in-depth look at this tomorrow
2024-03-05 12:09:10 Looking at this on a surface level though I'm not sure this is as good of a fit for our application. Were are quite limited on the size of the IP core (must fit within 120k LUTs) but still need to deliver a high quality code stream (our current target is 4k/60 at 4:4:4, but this might change in the future). Latency is also somewhat important but J2K would probably be sufficient in that regard. We have already done some work in implementing XS, but I assume most methods are applicable to J2K also...

2024-03-05 04:10:31 Kakadu demonstrated 4:4:4 60p using 40K LUTs at ISE (https://www.linkedin.com/posts/graham-morton_ise-barcelona-2024-come-and-see-the-live-activity-7158020825940455425-Rb7V)
2024-03-05 04:10:42 I am told the surface is getting smaller

2024-03-05 05:26:29 Thanks a lot for the extensive information you provided so far, I really appreciate that. I will have a more thorough look today, and we will have a meeting tomorrow discussing if we should go forward with using XS or switch to J2K.
2024-03-05 05:27:01 This is extremely impressive I must say. Id love to know more about it.
